    In a small bowl, combine the baking soda and warm water, and set the mixture aside.

    In a large bowl, combine the carrots, yogurt, sugar, applesauce, oil, whole egg or egg whites, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt (if desired) and raisins.
