    To begin making the Srilankan Dal Recipe, we will pound the fenugreek seeds and whole black pepper corns coarsely

    mustard seeds(1/2 teaspoon)methi seeds (fenugreek seeds)(1 teaspoon)whole black peppercorns(1 teaspoon)

    Heat a pressure cooker with oil, add cinnamon stick and pound fenugreek seeds and whole black pepper corns into the hot oil and fry till they sizzle for few seconds

    Add curry leaves and mustard seeds as well and allow it to crackle, once done add onions and saute till they soften

    After few minutes, add in dry red chilli flakes, coconut milk, soaked toor dal and a cup of water, salt to taste and pressure cook for around 4 whistle
