
Cabbage Palya Recipe
A vegetarian South Indian Recipes recipe with cabbage (patta gobi/ muttaikose) - finely shredded, tomato - finely chopped, onion - finely chopped. Ready in 40 min, serves 4.

To begin making the Cabbage Palya recipe, cook shredded cabbage in boiling water for 5 to 7 minutes or until it is slightly transparent and drain excess water using a colander
cabbage (patta gobi/ muttaikose) - finely shredded(2 cups) - 2
Heat mustard oil in a wide pan, add mustard seeds and let it crackle
mustard seeds(1 teaspoon)tablespoons mustard oil(2) - 3
Once it crackles, add hing, curry leaves, green chillies and garlic
tablespoons garlic - minced(3)green chillies - chopped finely(2)tablespoons coriander (dhania) leaves - chopped(2)curry leaves - few - 4
Saute it until the garlic changes its colour slightly
tablespoons garlic - minced(3) - 5
Add the onions and a tiny bit of salt and let it cook until it turns slightly golden
onion - finely chopped(3/4 cup)salt - as required - 6
At this stage add the cabbage and add the required salt and mix well and cook until you see it drying
cabbage (patta gobi/ muttaikose) - finely shredded(2 cups)salt - as required - 7
This shouldn't take too long

Now add the chopped tomato, grated coconut and coriander
tomato - finely chopped(1)onion - finely chopped(3/4 cup)green chillies - chopped finely(2)tablespoons coriander (dhania) leaves - chopped(2)fresh coconut - grated(1/4 cup) - 9
Mix well and cook covered until the tomato becomes soft
tomato - finely chopped(1) - 10
Dish it out into bowl and serve

Cabbage Palya is best served with steamed rice and mixed vegetable sambar, or as a tiffin box dish with chapattis
