To begin making the Pudalangai Poriyal Recipe, firstly wash snake gourd and slice them into medium sized piece
snake gourd (pudulangai) - sliced into small(2 pieces) - 2
In a heavy bottomed pan, add oil and heat over medium heat

Once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds
mustard seeds(1/2 teaspoon) - 4
Once the seeds splutter, add curry leaves and green chillies
green chillies - finely chopped(4)mustard seeds(1/2 teaspoon)curry leaves(8) - 5
Now add the snake gourd, sprinkle some salt and turmeric powder and mix well
snake gourd (pudulangai) - sliced into small(2 pieces)cumin powder (jeera)(1 teaspoon)turmeric powder (haldi)(1/4 teaspoon)salt - as required - 6
Add a few drops of water, cover and cook the poriyal

Simmer the flame and cook the vegetable with lid covered until they become tender and cooked well

This will take about 6-8 minutes

Open the lid and finally, add the grated coconut to the Pudalangai Poriyal and give it a stir
fresh coconut - grated(1/2 cup) - 10
Simmer the Pudalangai Poriyal for about 2 minutes and then switch off the flame and serve hot
