Amritsari Dry Dal Recipe - Amritsari Sookhi Dal Recipe
A vegetarian Punjabi recipe with black urad dal (split), onions - cut into thin and straight, tomatoes - finely chopped. Ready in 50 min, serves 4.

To make Amritsari dry dal recipe, first wash the urad dal 3 to 4 times and soak it in water for 30 minutes
black urad dal (split)(1/2 cup) - 2
Now heat oil in a pan
oil(1 tablespoon) - 3
Add celery, cumin, asafoetida and cook till the cumin seeds crackle
celery(1/2 teaspoon)cumin(1/2 teaspoon) - 4
Now add green chili, garlic, onion, salt and cook till the onion becomes soft
green chillies - finely chopped(3)coriander leaves finely chopped salt - teaspoon red chilli powder(1/2 cup) - 5
After the onion becomes soft, add tomato, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and cook till the tomato becomes soft
coriander leaves finely chopped salt - teaspoon red chilli powder(1/2 cup)coriander powder(1/2 teaspoon)turmeric powder(1/2 teaspoon)coriander - finely chopped(1/4 cup) - 6
Now add urad dal and some water
black urad dal (split)(1/2 cup) - 7
Cover the pan and cook till the lentils are cooked

Add a little water as it is a dry pulse

Turn off the gas, garnish with green coriander and serve
